Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY, 2.1.2014 – Basic Vacation opened the night at WFAN’s ‘Welcome to Brooklyn” concert Super Bowl weekend that included J Roddy Walston and the Business, Ms Mr, New Politics and Red Hot Chili Peppers at Barclays Center.
I had heard of every band on the bill for WFAN’s Welcome to Brooklyn concert except Basic Vacation but made sure to get there early to check them out. Sometimes you get burned and wind up with a boring band going through the motions, especially when you put a small band on such a big stage. But I was so glad I made sure to get there early because these guys played like they were headlining. The crows was sparse but they played like it was full, and they sounded great. So glad I got a chance to experience their live show.
The monitors definitely hindered shooting, especially with such a tight pit and security not allowing us on step stools. Lighting was pretty good for these guys, which it usually isn’t for openers, and I am sure isn’t when they are headlining shows. I shot at iso2500 with fairly good shutter speeds around 1/320.
