I know the openers of the headliner I am shooting probably half the time I cover a show.  When I don’t, they either end up being useless filler or surprise the heck out of me and make me smile.  On this night, I experienced the latter, and the crowd who filled up The Capitol Theatre to see the legend, BB King, I think felt the same way.

Jonathon “Boogie” Long must have been on cloud 9 opening for The King.  He came out to a pretty full venue and just brought it.  The Capitol Theatre allows us to only shoot from the soundboard or the sides of the venue during seated shows.  With stage lighting that wasn’t very creative, the intense spotlights on Jonathon bounced off his highly reflective suit and made it hard to control the light properly.  I shot this mostly with the 7D and 70-200 at 4000 iso.  Jonathon is very animated and made for some good photos.
