Volbeat at The Wellmont Theatre

This was my second time shooting Volbeat, the first time when I was on assignment for Rolling Stone covering Orion Festival in Atlantic City in 2012.  They played a mid-day set there so I didn’t have to concern myself with lighting as I had daylight to work with.  But at The Wellmont Theatre the lighting was spotty at best.  I had looked at photos from other stops on the tour and the lighting looked workable but at The Wellmont the lighting was okay about 20% of the time they were on stage.  Other than that there was not much front lighting at all and especially new guitarist Rob Caggiano was in the dark most of the set.  I mostly used the Canon 5D Mark III and the 24-70 but I did have the 70-200 on the 5D Mark II as well for a few shots.
