Madison Square Garden, NYC, April 15, 2013 – Muse, touring in support of their newest release ‘The 2nd Law’, kicked off three New York City area shows, this one at Madison Square Garden on April 15, 2013.
Who doesn’t look forward to a big arena rock shows by one of the biggest arena rock bands around right now? I last covered Muse at Prudential Center on their last tour in 2011. The production then was a bigger one where the band started the night with a big intro and came out on risers towering over the crowd. The production was still big at Madison Square Garden, but not as big as last tour.
This time we got to shoot from the pit, although it felt more like a mini-soundboard shoot since there were video cameras on tracks near the stage and the band was set back on a second tier of an elevated stage almost the entire shoot. I shot this almost exclusively with the 70-200 on the 5D3 except for a few of the wide shots. Lighting was pretty good. It was bright but not much coming from the front.
