The Theater at Madison Square Garden, NYC, 2.28.2013 – Photos from The WhoCares benefit concert at the Theater at Madison Square Garden featuring Elvis Costello and The Who to benefit Teen Cancer America on February 28, 2013.
I spent a very special night with Elvis Costello and The Who last night at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. A benefit to raise money for Teen Cancer America and Memorial Slaone Kettering Cancer Hospital, tickets were up to $2,500 per seat.
Elvis Costello played first and we were allowed to shoot from the side stage which, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, is very far from the stage. I was shooting a crop sensor camera with my 70-200mm and a 1.4x teleconvertor in order to have enough reach. Lighting was pretty straightforward with some strong backlighting and clean front lighting. For The Who we got to shoot from one side of the photo pit. The lighting was the best I have shot in a long time. ISO 1600, f4 with shutter speeds between 1/200 and 1/400.
