Love for Levon at Izod Center

Izod Center, East Rutherford, NJ, 10.3.2012 – Love for Levon: A Benefit to Save the Barn was put together at Izod Center after the passing of The Band legend Levon Helm to save his barn where many people joined him for his rambles.  This was a show that saw musician after musician come by to show some love for Levon Helm and play one of his tunes while they were there.  Headlined by none other than Roger Waters, additional musicians like John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, Joe Walsh, Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes, Grace Potter, Jakob Dylan, Ray Lamontagne as well as Larry Campbell paid tribute to music’s lost friend.  Check out my photos from a show people will be talking about forever.

So I can’t complain about a soundboard shoot when only 8 photographers were allowed to shoot the show.  About 20 showed up for the step and repeat before the show and were then given tickets to watch the actual show.  I am not equipped for a soundboard shoot like most people are.  I had to rely on my 70-200 on my 7D with a teleconvertor while others were shooting with 400 2.8s.  But I made due and it worked out.  I won’t win any awards for these but I documented an amazing show.  Love for Levon is one of those shows people will be telling their grand kids “I was there”.
