Photos: The Kaiser Chiefs played Terminal 5 3.8.12

Terminal 5, NYC, 3.8.21 – The Kaiser Chiefs, part punk rock, part new wave and all rolled into one of the most banging alt rock bands to come out of England in recent years stopped into New York City’s Terminal 5 last week.  After a nearly 3 year hiatus between Off with their Heads, they return to touring in support of their most recent release, Future is Medieval.  Here are the pics from the night.

Backlighting.  It looks pretty cool standing out in the crowd but is hell on us photographers.  I was told before the Kaiser Chiefs show to expect lots of reds and blues. That advance was true.  Luckily it was a bit more blue than red.  Blue you can sometimes work with; red is hard on the camera sensor.  But then the Kaiser Chiefs through another factor in, heavy backlighting.  Backlighting is fine if there is some front lighting, but when there are no lights hitting them from the front, its hard to expose the faces of the performers.  This night at Terminal 5 was lacking the front lighting I like, which makes focusing difficult, and with the amount that Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs moves around on stage, you end up missing some shot you hope to get.
