The Wellmont Theatre, Montclair, NJ 10.06.11 – I’ve seen my fair share of events at the Wellmont Theatre. I’ve covered bands that have ranged from The National to Shinedown to Chris Cornell solo. Most acts seem to change their game a bit to fit into the venue, and rightfully so. Sitting watching Chris Cornell, who I think has one of the best voices in rock, with just an acoustic on the stage was fitting. So when I found out that Elvis Costello was playing the Wellmont I thought they found another perfect match. Like the Wellmont, there is something classic about Elvis Costello. He makes it look easy on stage, keeping the crowd involved throughout the show and, at times, heading into the crowd itself to bring someone on stage to give them a perspective they likely will never see again.
