When i was 16 I was a little New Wave kid living in Staten Island.  I was attached to bands like The Cure, The Pixies, and Depeche Mode.  Little did I know at that time that this alternate band, as I perceived them, was pretty damn mainstream in the UK.  But to me, they were the anti-establishment on Staten Island where I was surrounded by bad pop and vocal house music.

So years later, here I am all grown up and pursuing my music photography career.  And Depeche Mode announces  US tour in support of Delta Machine.  And I get to shoot one of my all time favorites.  Even walking out of the pit that night I was excited.  Even after the shoot was quite a miserable experience.  We were limited to a few feet of space in front of a stage that was lined with monitors and told we weren’t allowed to use step stools.  I still love what I got, but I always focus on what I could have gotten.  Its something I need to work on.
