American Idol winner Phillip Phillips opened for Matchbox Twenty at The Capitol Theatre and I was glad to get a chance to see him. Last year was the final year I invested any time in Idol but I am glad I went out with Phillip Phillips winning. There is nothing exciting about shooting Phillip, especially as an opener. It was him with his supporting band and an acoustic guitar. We weren’t allowed to shoot from the front of the house so these are all from the sides or soundboard. Lighting was about what you would expect; nothing flashy but enough to get what I needed.

"Nothing exciting" about shooting Phillip? You must have missed something!
Norma – Phillip sat on his stool the entire time I shot him. You get some good facial expressions but that is about it. His performance was great, but I am used to shooting bands moving around on stage.
