Maroon 5 at Madison Square Garden

I was one of 2 photographers approved for the Maroon 5 concert at Madison Square Garden last Saturday night.  There has been much speculation as to why photographers are not getting approved but the only thing concrete I can point to is the stage set-up.  The 2 photographers were put in a “pit” that is as wide as the 2 of us.  We had no where to move around to so our creativity was limited.  We shot Maroon 5 from the same spot for all 3 songs.

Lighting was bright but it wasn’t good.  However they designed the lighting there was a haze over the stage which crushed any contrast in these Maroon 5 photos.  This was a straight forward 2 body set-up with a standard and telephoto zoom.
