Roseland Ballroom, NYC, 2.23.2013 – Concert photos of Imagine Dragons at Roseland Ballroom in NYC on February 23, 2012.
I had covered Imagine Dragons as recently as a few months ago at Irving Plaza and Roseland is a big jump up in size which says a lot about how quickly this band is taking off, and deservedly so. They played the stage like they owned it and lead singer Dan Reynolds was playing with the crowd throughout the night. Lighting was at time, great, and at time non-existent. It’s the type of shoot where you think you did better as you walk out of the pit but you are surprised at home many “just missed” photos you have when you see them on the screen.
Dan has a ton of energy on stage and not just lateral movement which will allow you some room to miss nailing the shot as long as you are panning properly. I shot this set at iso 2500 with shutter speeds around 1/200, but I was rolling a but and even bumped my iso to 3200. Standard 2 body shoot with the 24-70 taking most of the action.
