Made in America, Philadelphia Museum of Art, 9.2.2012 – Pearl Jam headlined Day 2 of the Made in America festival in Philadelphia and fans in the front “row” took their spots at 11am in order to be close to their heroes when their set started at 9pm. Joined by Jay Z, another collaboration was highly anticipated, but nixed, when Chris Cornell canceled his appearance at Made in America festival. Fans were hoping for a Temple of the Dog reunion but didn’t get it. They did get a fierce, sometimes angry Pearl Jam set. Click through for more pics of Pearl Jam at Made in America festival.
Pearl Jam was the final band on the final day of Made in America Festival. This was my second time covering them, the first time being at Prudential Center back in 2010. 20 photographers were approved to shoot their set and we were split into 2 groups. One group on the right and one on the left with the middle of the photo pit remaining clear. There was no crossing over to the other side. So for Pearl Jam, you had to hope you picked the proper side. Lighting was okay. I actually though it would be a bit better. The whole band stays towards the back of the stage behind monitors and the stage was pretty high.
