Central Park Summerstage, NYC, 6.05.2012 – Central Park Summerstage mixes a series of free shows with paid shows every summer. It gives people confined to 300sf apartments many chances for a night out under the stars with some great music. But there is obviously a cost that comes with this. Summerstage relies on donors to help alleviate some of these costs. This year their gala was one event to help raise money to support the summer concert series.
The 1% mixed with the 99%. People were able to pay $50 for a general admission ticket, or donors could spend up to $25,000 for various VIP packages. Performers include Soulive (House Band), G Love, Wyclef Jean, The Roots, Living Colour, John Scofield and many more. The theme for the night was a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Here is part one of my pics from the Gala at Central Park Summerstage.
This show was an 8pm start time so we were shooting at dusk. There was some stage lighting but it was tougher to use it to our advantage until it was truly dark out. The pit was split into 2 sections and we had to pick a side and shoot from there. There was a gap of about 30′ in the center that we were’t allowed in to so our angles were pretty limited.
