Terminal 5, NYC, 3.28.12 – The Joy Formidable, after supporting the Foo Fighters on their North American tour, made a headlining stop at New York City’s Terminal 5. Touring in support of their 2011 release, The Big Roar, here are my live music photos of The Joy Formidable from the night.
This was a show I have been looking forward to shooting for a long time. “Whirring” might have been my song of the year last year, even if it came out in 2010. The Joy Formidable opened for the Foo Fighters and I even tried shooting only them as the opener. The lighting was great and The Joy Formidable have an energy on stage that is a pleasure to shoot. I wish I could cover take pics of them every night. ISO was at 3200 and I could have easily gone lower but it allowed me to shoot at pretty good shutter speeds.
The pit was the most crowded I have ever seen at Terminal 5. My guess is there was over 15 photographers in the pit and the pit isn’t wide there. It was like a clown car.
