Terminal 5, NYC, 11.1.11 – This was a show I had marked on my calendar for quite a while. I couldn’t wait to shoot Evanescence and check out the new line-up live. A lot of old Evanescence fans constantly say how the new line-up isn’t Evanescence an that the new band is just not as good as the original. I have to disagree. These guys absolutely rocked. Amy Lee is one of the great leading ladies of rock with a voice that is simply unmatched. Even when she took a bit of a spill on stage, there wasn’t a blip in her vocals. I’m ready to cover them again please.
This was a really fun shoot and I would be happy shooting this band on an entire tour and could not get bored. Amy not only has an incredible voice, but she has an amazing stage presence. The entire band gives you something interesting to shoot. Lighting was good at Terminal 5 that night, if not a little heavy on the magenta. Mostly everything at iso 1600 on thr 5D2. Just a couple of shots with the 40d which also marks the last time I’ll be using the 40d since getting my new 7d.
