PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ 7.27.11 – I’m no metal head. But I am a fan of good music. Mayhem put in front of me a large group of bands. Most I knew. Some I had heard of but never heard and others I never heard of. Trivium fell into the group of bands I have never heard. Most of the time I like this. A lot of bands can fool you with studio trickery and come out live and be flat. Trivium opened the main stage where people were either hung over from the side stages all day and regrouping, or they were just showing up having skipped the side stages. They took the energy of both groups and upped it so they could be ready for what the main stage was about to bring. They were probably the most active of the main stage bands as they came out from behind their mics and to the end of the stage to interact with their fans.
